CANbus Engine Data Converter
Engine data converters are becoming more popular as marine electronics utilize CANbus NMEA 2000 communications.   Recently departed are the days of analog gauges, and those with older motors, or those equipping their boats with newer electronics are left scratching their heads.  NMEA 2000 digital messaging can put all your information from the engine and other components onto a networked backbone, thus allowing all this digital information to be shared across multiple displays.  Enter the RS11 engine data converter, a little piece of hardware that sits between your analog senders and the NMEA backbone.  The incoming analog signal is converted to digital and the RS11 sends a NMEA message that can be read by any NMEA compliant display, such as Lowrance's HDS units.
Converting analog to digital is not  as simple as it sounds, as you'll still need to know the details of the senders, such as voltage, and will need to enter those into the program to get the correct reading.  Converting a tachometer pulse requires you to know the PPR value.
